Map Matching API

Match GPS data to the road network

The Maptoolkit Map Matching API is a powerful feature of our Routing API that allows you to precisely match any recorded route (GPX, KML, or GeoJSON file) to the underlying road network. Our map matching functionality utilizes the same technology as the Routing API, making it possible to match routes for car, bike, and foot travel modes.

By enabling turn-by-turn navigation with detailed instructions for recorded routes, our Map Matching API provides a valuable tool that would otherwise be unavailable, as there is typically no information about intersections and road changes included in recorded routes.

FAQ

The API can handle complex geometries, as long as they are connected as a single route. With multi-leg journeys or multiple unconnected routes, it will only display the first route in the file.

The same routing profiles as for the Routing API can be used for the Map Matching API. Therefore, the map-matched route matches those profiles.
